Hi guys! I’m creating a Cookcook for Parrots and I’m inviting you to be part of the book by submitting your recipes!
Please follow the instructions below to submit your recipe – the recipes that are used will be invited to get the book (when first published) at a reduced price!
To submit your recipe:
The recipe name (If this is your creation, feel free to name it! If not, please site the source)
Pick a category:
Fresh foods (including chop)

Other – please say what it is
Who are you cooking for? (Tell whether it is for any parrot, small ones, nut-eaters or what specific type of parrot it can be made for)
The recipe- please include ingredients and measurements. If there is cooking time, give the temperature and time too.
Do you want your recipe to be anonymous or please give the credit of your name. You can also include your website if you like, (up to 10 characters of a credit line after your first and last name)

2. Enhancing Your Parrot's World: A Guide to Understanding and Improving Their Perspective
From Kalyn - I have a friend who has some money - enough to have a stunning flock and a great set-up for them. Parrots are expensive! So are their cages, toys and more! My friend has around 6 parrots, all medium sized to large. Gorgeous! When I recommended improving their diet, he did. Like so many of us, he loves his birds, and he wants what’s best for them. Like my parrots are to me, they are a passion for him, an expensive one. He’s invested around six thousand dollars - just for their housing of a cement slab that he’s put an aviary and cages on. They have a cover too, so they have it all. However, he has several birds of one species so that several of his parrots are in cages alone.
What Does A Parrot Need To Be Healthy And Happy?

Tweet-Talk and Chirp-Chill: So, in the wild, us conures love hanging out in big, fluffy flocks. It's like a never-ending feather fiesta! Our human buddies can totally join the party by chatting with us, playing fun games, or sharing yummy nibbles. The more quality time, the merrier!
Bestie Bonding Time: We conures are all about those heart-to-heart moments. Let's make sure our human buds know we love them by hanging out and doing fun stuff together. A little dance here, a cozy cuddle there – building a strong friendship is our secret to feeling super chirpy!
Snack Time Magic: In the wild, we're like little foodie explorers, always on the lookout for tasty treats. We tend to eat a huge variety! Our human pals can sprinkle some magic into our meals by hiding treats in cool toys or serving up our munchies in a fancy way. Yummy surprises and variety make every meal an adventure!
Nature Vibes in Our Crib: Imagine being surrounded by all things nature – comfy perches, exciting climbing spots, and a ton of toys. Our human friends can turn our space into a mini-jungle! It's like bringing the wild inside, minus the rainforest drama. Let's create a cozy nest that's as snug as can be!
From Kalyn - Special idea: When I have plant clippings from my non-toxic plants, like bamboo or spider plants, I like to put them close by my parrot’s cages (withing reach, for a little challenge) or inside. They love natural enrichment like this and flock right to it!
Zoomin' and Zippin' Around:
From Kalyn - Sometimes I look at Lorenza, my Yellow-naped Amazon, and I cringe! I adopted her as an adult (she actually chose me, I wasn’t looking for an Amazon at the time!) She has never tried to fly; my avian veterinarian thinks her wings are atrophied. This means that the only exercise she gets is from walking. I’m stunned at how little many parrots don’t move around if they aren’t flying, meaning they get little exercise.
Us conures love a good flutter and flight. Our human buddies can make sure we get some exercise by letting us zoom around safely indoors or in a cool outdoor setup. Flying fun keeps our feathers fabulous and our spirits high!
So, my feathered friends, let's teach our humans the art of making our world sparkle! When they understand our chirpy needs for friendship, snacks, nature vibes, and flying fun, life becomes a delightful dance of happiness.
